PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Mobile Bin Picking (MBP) is an advanced robotic solution that combines collaborative robot (COBOTs) technology with a sophisticated Bin Picking machine vision system. This system enables the automatic removal of unordered parts from bins, optimizing industrial processes such as palletizing, automatic machine loading, and feeding manufacturing lines.
Unlike traditional pick-and-place applications, where trajectories are pre-recorded, MBP uses a 3D vision system that auto-generates picking paths based on the arrangement of parts and their surroundings, such as bin walls or nearby columns. This allows for greater flexibility and efficiency in dynamic industrial environments.

SOLUTION AND TECHNOLOGIES

MBP integrates two key technologies that improve efficiency and precision in part handling:
• Collaborative Robot (COBOT): Allows the robot to work safely alongside human operators, sharing the workspace without the need for physical barriers.
• Bin Picking 3D Vision System: Analyzes the scene in three dimensions, locating and evaluating parts to identify the most suitable one to extract in each cycle. The system adjusts trajectories in real time based on the arrangement of parts and any obstacles present.
Furthermore, MBP adapts to different types of parts and bins, making it a versatile solution for production sectors such as automotive, logistics, and advanced manufacturing.

Contributed innovation

The main innovation of Mobile Bin Picking lies in its ability to automate complex part picking processes accurately and efficiently. Its key features include:
• Automatic generation of trajectories based on the environment and part arrangement, eliminating the need for pre-programming.
• Safe interaction between humans and robots thanks to the use of COBOTs, improving flexibility and collaboration in the industrial environment.
• Optimization of the picking process, allowing the most appropriate part to be selected in each cycle to maximize operational efficiency.
• Adaptability to different industrial environments, facilitating its implementation in a variety of production sectors.

With these innovations, MBP is positioned as a key solution for companies seeking to automate their logistics and production processes efficiently, safely, and flexibly.
