Project description:

KINERGY develops advanced energy generation systems based on PEM hydrogen fuel cells, designed for industrial mobility and high-intensity applications where conventional battery-based electrification presents operational limitations. The solution is targeted at environments such as logistics, industrial mobility, port operations, forklift trucks, AGVs, and logistics machinery, where charging times, productivity losses, and the need for electrical infrastructure can constrain operations. Its objective is to provide a zero local-emissions alternative, featuring refueling in minutes and continuous operational capability.

Solution & technologies:

The solution integrates a complete energy system based on PEM fuel cell technology, including a fuel cell stack, proprietary control electronics, an FCCU unit, an optimized Balance of Plant (BoP), and a modular architecture scalable from 20 kW to 100 kW. The 20 kW system is initially aimed at off-grid applications and forklift trucks, serving as a technological platform for scaling towards higher-power solutions for industrial vehicles. KINERGY develops and integrates proprietary critical components, including carbon-composite bipolar plates, advanced control strategies, BoP/eBoP integration, and digital twin methodologies to model, validate, and optimize performance, durability, and system integration.

Innovation contributed:

KINERGY delivers a proprietary modular and scalable fuel cell architecture covering a power range from 20 kW to 100 kW, particularly relevant for industrial mobility applications. Its innovation is based on the vertical integration of key technologies, including bipolar plates, control software, and system architecture, enabling improvements in cost, efficiency, durability, and supply chain control. The combination of hydrogen technology, rapid refueling, 24/7 operation, digital twin capabilities, and modular design provides a competitive alternative to batteries in demanding industrial applications.
