Project description:
Mappa a technology solution developed to help industry integrate environmental impact into operational decision-making, with a specific focus on the automotive sector and supply chain management. Following its participation in the BFA acceleration program, the project has evolved toward consolidation with a more mature technology, targeting OEMs and Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 suppliers. It addresses the growing need to measure, reduce, and anticipate the environmental footprint of products within complex supply chains, where decisions regarding materials, manufacturing processes, logistics, & suppliers directly affect emissions & competitiveness.
Solution and technologies:
The platform calculates a product’s carbon footprint based on data from materials, manufacturing processes, logistics, and suppliers, while enabling the simulation of different operational scenarios before implementation. Its objective is to transform environmental data into an operational tool for product design, supplier selection, production planning, and procurement. The technology and methodology are certified by Applus+, reinforcing the reliability of the calculations and positioning Mappa as a validated technology in Spain for product carbon footprint assessment.

Mappa brings innovation by shifting sustainability from a reporting function to a daily decision-making tool. Rather than simply measuring emissions retrospectively, it enables companies to simulate scenarios and evaluate operational alternatives before execution. Its competitive advantage is based on proprietary technology, industrial value chain modeling, external certification, and the ability to connect product carbon footprint data with real-world production and procurement processes in the automotive industry.
